Wine should make you happy. The Hirsch Family Blend Estate Pinot Noir is our winemaker’s selection of the most delicious and happiness-inducing barrels from the vintage. It includes fruit from some of our best parcels (such as Block 8), resulting in a wine of both hedonism and refinement. The Family Blend is intended to be drinkable and approachable upon release, but can also age.
The Family Blend was first made in 2008 as a collaboration between David Hirsch and his daughter Jasmine. The label is a sketch of David Hirsch, in one of his favorite Hawaiian shirts, enjoying a glass of Hirsch Pinot after a long day in the field. This picture is an encapsulation of David’s character: thoughtful and hard-working yet ever open to the pleasures of a great bottle of wine.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Family Blend is an incredibly fragrant wine, overflowing with crushed strawberries and sour cherries. Notes of rose, licorice, orange flowers and graphite emerge with air. An elegant core of fruit persists throughout the palate and the finish goes on and on. Soft tannins and bright acidity make this a mouthwatering and approachable wine.
Service Notes
This wine is showing beautifully in its youth and can be enjoyed now with great pleasure. We recommend giving it an hour of air before drinking.
